My words started with the usual clunky laments about life and love. So clever they seemed, now reminders of how cringe today's words will feel in 20 years.
Introduced to Haiku and Bashō by a dear friend. The restrictions and way it reveals the face of place attracted me. The brevity requires a depth of writing. It influences everything I write.
So began my humble attempts to write Haiku in both English and Japanese. My early works sway between how to apply the rules, often using syllables in an English way over mora.
Moving to Sydney has let me study 日本語 formally. My goal is to compose 俳句 in 日本語 directly. My speed and quality is improving and I am excited to experience the quality of what I write in 5 years.

Publishing
Haiku inspired me to live publish. First to an SMS group. Then MMS with photos. iPhone let me publish directly online. I have moved from Twitter to Tumblr then to Instagram and now 9:16 videos.
